Folks must be wondering what the heck Puggi (pu-gg-ee) means.
Well, umh, thats just my pet name, coined by my wife.
Some unforgettable moments in my life.
Car shopping anyone???
One of my friend who was to graduate with his Masters degree soon, had the urge of buying a
car. He made the usual mistake of taking opinions from his desi roommates (me included) and lo,, experts rained upon him with a deluge of opinions as to what kind of a car he should buy. Ranging from Porshe (since the advice was free and its the poor buyer who has to make the monthly payments, we felt there was no harm in recommend it despite knowing a desi fresh out of college would not buy it anyway) to the stereotyped, ubiquitious Camry..
Little did we know he had already made up his mind on a Camry or a Accord or a Maxima (what else did we expect huh??).
Soon a platoon of Desi car experts accompanied him for Car shopping. We started early, looking at new/uesd cars haggling with the hapless salesmen/dealers, several of them felt the need
to ask us questions like,
"who among us was actually buying the car", to "how many cars we were planning on buying?".
After a long,tiring fruitless
day we decided to visit a Honda Showroom.
The showroom was almost about to call it a day as it was past 9.00 PM.
, however seeing a flood of potential customers, the manager made sure to send us his best
salesman to cater to our needs.
The enthusiastic salesman, descended upon us, making it a point to memorize our notoriously long names. Then came his million dollar question "What are you looking for today gentlemen?".
Camry.. came the reply from my confused, delusional, exhausted roomie.
The salesman was stunned, his eyes poped out, face turned pale yellow and almost passed out, while my embarassed desi experts headed for the nearest exit door hiding their faces.
While some tried to explain to the salesman, that my friend had a long day and he actually meant Accord not Camry..
As expected we could not hide our laughter throughout the conversation with the salesman,
and found uncomfor
table dealing with the him, soon we headed
out promising the salesman that we would be back the very next day.
No marks for guessing that we never showed up and my roomie found a cool deal and brought the car by himself in a couple of days, saving us from further embarrassment.
